The 60th International Chamber Music Festival is opening today in Plovdiv. The event is dedicated to the local Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts, whose 60th anniversary coincides with that of the festival.

The programme of the international forum includes ten concerts, three master classes, a symposium and a book presentation. The anniversary edition will feature both established musicians and rising stars of classical chamber music.

"The international participation is very strong, but this does not mean that Bulgarian performers are neglected. Former and current graduates of the Dance and Music Academy, teachers and friends of the Academy are taking part," Prof. Evgeniy Shevkanov, artistic director of the festival, said for the BNR.

The foreign performers come from Austria, Serbia, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, France and Uzbekistan.
