The Victims of Communism Museum in Washington hosts the Bulgarian interactive exhibition "Belene – A Bulgarian Resistance Story". The exhibition will be on display until June 14. It is part of the "Stories from Belene" project of the Sofia Platform Foundation, implemented with the support of the America for Bulgaria Foundation.

"Belene – Brave Stories in First Person" is an innovative project aimed at preserving the memory of the recent past. Using new technologies and artificial intelligence, visitors can speak with the survivor from the Belene labor camp, Nikola Daskalov, and take a virtual tour of the camp. ''Stories from Belene" (Belene.Camp) is a virtual educational platform presenting 120 hours of in-person interviews with Bulgaria's few remaining gulag survivors. They share their experiences and explain why freedom, the right to choose and democracy must be preserved. "Belene – A Bulgarian Resistance Story" is a traveling exhibition and will be in Bulgaria in 2025.

The premiere at the Victims of Communism Museum was launched by the Director of the Sofia Platform Foundation Louisa Slavkova, the President of America for Bulgaria Foundation Nancy Schiller, the President of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation Eric Patterson, the Bulgarian Ambassador to the USA Georgi Panayotov and the U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria Kenneth Merten.
