The 42nd Golden Rose Bulgarian Feature Film Festival begins in Varna. The competition program will feature 15 full-length films, 20 short films and 5 TV series. The opening ceremony will take place on the evening of September 19 at the Festival and Congress Centre with a screening of "The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent". The co-production by Croatia, Bulgaria, France and Slovenia won the Golden Palm for Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is directed and written by Nebojša Slijepčević. Goran Bogdan, Alexis Manenti, Dragan Micanović and Silvio Mumelaš star in the movie.
Among the titles competing for Best Feature Film are "Citizen Saint" by Tinatin Kajrishvili; "Windless" by Pavel Vesnakov; "The Trap" by Nadejda Koseva; "The End of the River" by Vasil Barkov; "Wedding" by Magdalena Ralcheva and "Triumph" by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov. The film "Triumph" is also Bulgaria's submission for the 2025 Oscar awards.
