Winds of up to 120 kms. per hour inflicted damage in Vratsa, the biggest town in Bulgaria’s Northwest.

Dozens of reports have come in of fallen trees and branches onto vehicles and roads, damaged equipment and torn overhead cables. There were partial outages in some parts of Vratsa, as well as in many other towns and villages in the municipality.

Damage control teams, in coordination with the local administration’s crisis headquarters, worked throughout the night to repair the damages caused by the gale-force wind. A telephone number is available for the public to report problems caused by the storm.

A yellow weather alert for strong winds is in place today nationwide. The gusts of wind are expected to reach around and over 22-24 metres per second.
