PP-DB will negotiate government with GERB only if it signs health cordon around Peevski

"We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB), the second largest parliamentary group, has said that it will support the formation of a regular government only if GERB-SDS agrees to sign the PP-DB declaration calling for a "cordon sanitaire" around Delyan Peevski, leader of the DPS New Beginning. Peevski has been sanctioned for corruption under the Magnitsky Act. This position was clarified by Assen Vassilev, co-leader of the PP, in an interview with BNR.

"Our position has not changed since before the elections. Our support depends on whether GERB-SDS will sign the declaration establishing a sanitary cordon around DPS-New Beginning and, most importantly, take concrete steps to implement it. This is the main source of instability in the country, not only at the moment, but over the past 4-5 years," Vassilev added.
Assen Vassilev said that the formation of a cabinet with GERB, PP-DB, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and There Is Such a Party (ITN) was unrealistic because of significant differences with the BSP on the development of the country in key sectors.
