Bulgarians have set aside between 25 and 150 euros to surprise their loved ones with Christmas gifts, a BNT survey shows. Clothes and electronics are the most preferred goods. Online shopping in December also saw growth, and digital wallets, debit and credit cards are among the most frequently used means of payment. Place settings in restaurants for New Year's Eve reached 90 euros, and reservations were made a month ago.

About 500,000 Bulgarians are traveling for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Of these, about 200,000 people will travel around the country, and the remaining 300,000 - abroad, financial expert Georgi Zahariev told bTV.

59% of holiday expenses go to travel, 26% to gifts and 15 percent to meals and celebrations, the expert explains.
