Fourteen people injured in the nightclub fire in the Macedonian town of Kočani have been admitted for treatment in Bulgaria, Pirogov Emergency Hospital Director Dr. Valentin Dimitrov announced at a briefing.

Eight of them are in the intensive care unit at Pirogov in extremely critical condition. Three patients are under 18 and the oldest patient is a 31-year-old man. Some of the injured have been admitted in hospitals in Plovdiv and Varna. The patients are in thermal shock, with burns affecting their bodies, arms and faces. Their upper and lower respiratory tracts are also affected, which further complicates their condition.

"The blood centers in Sofia, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora responded to the hospital's need for blood, but blood donors are always needed in the country, and blood donation initiatives should not stop", said Dr. Valentin Dimitrov.

The Bulgarian embassy in Skopje announced that Bulgaria is ready to provide transportation for the family members of the victims of the Kočani tragedy who are being treated in Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, as well as to provide them with accommodation for the necessary period of treatment.

Last night, citizens gathered in front of the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Sofia to honor the memory of the deceased and express their solidarity.
