The European Public Prosecutor's Office has confirmed to BNR that Bulgarian European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva has been temporarily suspended from office. On Wednesday, the EPPO informed the European Parliament, the Council of the EU and the European Commission that it is launching an administrative investigation into possible illegal actions by Georgieva. It covers a public procurement contract for the expansion of the Chiren gas storage facility under an agreement between Bulgartransgaz and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency for nearly 40 million euros.

Asked by "24 Chasa" what exactly she was being investigated for, Georgieva said that the investigation into the gas storage facility contained data that the leader of DPS – New Beginning, Delyan Peevski, had demanded 10 million euros from subcontractors on the project. According to Georgieva, he arranged who would win the contract and put pressure on the companies. Georgieva told Capital that she felt threatened by Peevski. "We Continue the Change" announced that they are filing a report with the European Public Prosecutor's Office to investigate statements by prosecutor Teodora Georgieva about pressure, threats and a bribe demanded by Delyan Peevski in the investigation of the expansion of the Chiren gas storage facility. A month ago, Teodora Georgieva was assigned security at the request of Laura Kövesi after a fire in the village of Beglezh on February 15, in which the mother of the Bulgarian prosecutor died.
