The explosions at a UN guesthouse in Gaza on March 19, which killed Bulgarian UN staffer Marin Marinov and seriously injured five others, were most likely caused by two Israeli tank shells.

This is what experts who analyzed photos from the scene of the incident say. The footage was obtained exclusively by The Washington Post.

According to the American newspaper, Marinov and his team were inspecting damage to the roof of the building and were standing in front of it after finishing their work when it came under fire. The first shell killed the Bulgarian, followed by a second strike. An expert quoted by the publication claims that the target of the attack was the people present, not the building itself.

The UN blamed Israel for the attack, as the international organization reduced its staff in Gaza by 1/3.

Bulgaria announced that it was waiting for a full investigation.
