The date May 9 marks 80 years since the end of World War II and the victory over Nazism. The memorial day was marked by laying wreaths and flowers at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier with the participation of the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova, President Rumen Radev, Vice President Iliana Iotova and His Holiness Patriarch Daniil.

After the ceremony in memory of the soldiers who died in the fight against Nazism, a procession of the "Immortal Regiment" took place.

With portraits of the participants from the First Bulgarian Army, which provided the extreme southern flank and rear of the Third Ukrainian Front, people headed to the already dismantled monument to the Soviet Army.

Finally, the participants in the procession bowed before the Monument-ossuary of the Soviet soldier in the capital's Lozenets district, where a prayer service was previously held in memory of the dead.
