National Assembly Speaker Nataliya Kiselova is returning the request for a referendum on the euro to President Rumen Radev, NOVA has reported. BNR sources confirmed the information. The National Assembly will not discuss the proposal, nor will it vote on it. GERB confirmed in a post on Facebook that the parliament will not put the president's request to a vote.

Later, the parliament's press service reported that the president's request was returned because it did not comply with the provisions of the Constitution.

According to unofficial information, Brussels has warned Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova that if there was a delay, the procedure for Bulgaria's transition to the euro might be blocked. Today, she announced that she has assured the European institutions that adopting the euro from January 1, 2026 remains a key priority for Bulgaria.
