Vyara Pantaleeva rebels in her new song

Vyara Pantaleeva's latest song, "Samo Spomen/Only a Memory", is a bold and honest call for change in the things that surround her. Not only as an artist, but also as a parent of an 11-year-old child, she is concerned about the environment in Bulgaria in which young people are growing up and being shaped.

The singer authored the lyrics and the music for the song together with her husband Chavdar Tsolov, who also arranged the piece. And although Vyara Pantaleeva hasn't done a rock song in a long time, she has now chosen exactly this genre to express her protest.

"When I release a song, I always try to express something through it. Basically, the song is focused on a love story that has simply come to an end because there’s no longer a reason for it to continue. But it's also a means to awaken other thoughts in a different direction—toward society. If you're a performer, you have to be responsible, and to do meaningful things that uplift, not the opposite. We should leave something of ourselves behind, and it should be something good and meaningful."
