A season with more tourists and increased interest in Bulgaria – this is what the members of the National Board of Tourism expect this summer.
“All the necessary prerequisites are in place in terms of climate, preparation by investors and managers of hotels and tourist complexes,” Polina Karastoyanova, executive director of the board, told BTA. According to her, serious improvements have been made during the spring months, such as refreshing interior and exterior spaces, lighting, and landscaping.
Polina Karastoyanova highlights two key macro factors that have a direct impact on the tourism industry – Bulgaria’s full acceptance into Schengen and the process of joining the eurozone. “The Bulgarian tourism business is absolutely ready for the introduction of the euro from January 1, 2026, which will generate economic, financial and investment benefits for Bulgaria,” she says.
