In an interview with Free Europe, North Macedonia's President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova described the country’s EU integration process as a “precedent,” stating that it “will give rise to new precedents”, BGNES reports.
She believes there is room for “creative diplomacy” to overcome the problem of starting negotiations. ''The European Parliament can adopt an act on the situation between us and Bulgaria. The Council can give guidelines, there can be an action plan for the joint Macedonian-Bulgarian historical Commission'', said Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
“We’ve signed two protocols, right? There can be another one, but it should not be the basis for a veto, but for discussion”, Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized.
Austria is ready to mediate in finding a creative solution with Bulgaria. Vienna believes that the most important thing for the EU at the moment is to implement the enlargement policy, added Siljanovska-Davkova.
