Japanese Embassy donates to Bulgarian Red Cross in support of Ukrainian refugees

At an official ceremony, the Embassy of Japan in Bulgaria will donate USD 247,791 to the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) for humanitarian activities supporting newly arrived refugees from Ukraine, BTA repor ts. The event will take place at the Blue Dot Refugee Support Center in Sofia. This centre is part of the "Compass" Network for Protection and Inclusion, operated by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

The donation will secure a total of 3,000 food packages and 1,000 family hygiene kits for 4,000 people.

The ceremony will be attended by Japanese Ambassador Hisashi Michigami, representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Chair of the State Agency for Refugees Mariana Tosheva, and Chairman of the Bulgarian Red Cross Hristo Grigorov.

At the event, the organisers will share details about the support available to refugees — from essential supplies and help with paperwork to language classes and access to healthcare.
