Delyan Peevski has alerted the Commission on Protection of Competition (CPC) about a possible fuel cartel involving Lukoil, the press office of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms- New Beginning said.
Delyan Peevski asked CPC to conduct a thorough probe into the operations and the actions of Lukoil Neftochim Burgas and Lukoil Bulgaria on the fuel import, processing and distribution market, as well as their links to other market participants, to determine whether there has been any formal or informal coordination.
The alert states that it can be reasonably assumed that consumers and businesses have been harmed due to a deliberate limitation allowing only Lukoil to import fuel for the Bulgarian market, which is done with the consent of other participants. According to Delyan Peevski, this has resulted in higher end prices of fuels compared to the price levels under real market competition.
