Another exclusive music experience from the program of the European Music Festival in Sofia is expected on June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Central Military Club. After the success at the International Music Festival "Varna Summer" in 2023, the Wrocław Baroque Ensemble - a famous Polish ensemble specializing in historically informed performance practice, will perform in the capital of Bulgaria for the first time.
Founded in 2012, it is the resident ensemble of the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music in Wrocław. Its creator and artistic director is conductor Andrzej Kosendiak - one of the most active Polish musicians and managers. Exceptional instrumentalists and vocalists from Poland, the Czech Republic, UK, the Netherlands and Germany play and sing in the ensemble, which has toured nearly all European countries and has released 15 albums, highly appreciated by critics.
"The meaning of our work is to share the beauty of Baroque music and our emotions. We come to Sofia to present composers who are not well known to the Bulgarian audience, but I believe that they deserve to be rediscovered," the conductor says. The program, entitled "Harmony of the Continent - Polish Music for Europe", includes cantata by J. S. Bach and masterpieces by two Polish authors from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The event is dedicated to the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU. The program and the ensemble carry a message of harmony on the European continent and deservedly arouse the interest of the diplomatic representatives of the European community in this country. The event is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland as part of the "Inspiring Culture" program 2025-2026. The Polish Institute in Sofia is also a partner.
