Rumen Radev says the government should stop lying about BOTAŞ

The government is neither fully using this contract to satisfy domestic consumption, nor selling to third parties through its capacity, nor renegotiating, President Rumen Radev told journalists in response to a question from BNR reporter Mira Stefanova regarding the 13-year contract with Turkish company BOTAŞ, concluded by the caretaker government of Galab Donev, appointed by presidential decree. With it the country is obliged to pay 1 million levs every day without using the full capacity.

The President called on the government to stop lying. According to him, millions of megawatt-hours of liquefied gas have been imported through Botas since the beginning of the year. He also asked several questions:

“Why did they stop the contract for the import of Russian gas through Gazprom overnight, without providing any alternative?”

“How did they order seven tankers to cross the oceans without providing access to the liquefied gas terminals?”;

“Why do the same people who are ready to fight Putin every day love importing Russian gas through intermediaries and are currently doing so?”;

“Is there currently any gas stored in the Botas terminals that the government imported and that Bulgargaz does not want at the moment because that would mean prices would skyrocket?”
