The participants in the abuse of elderly people in the village of Yagoda near Stara Zagora face up to 12 years in prison, BGNES reported. The Kazanlak District Court will consider the prosecutor's request to impose a measure of "permanent arrest" on the six arrested in the case of the illegal nursing home, from which 75 people were taken out, eight of whom have already been hospitalized.

"The main charges are unlawful imprisonment and obstruction of free movement, failure to provide due assistance to a person who is in danger, physical violence and causing bodily harm," Stara Zagora District Prosecutor Tanya Dimitrova said at a briefing, BNR reported. Facts and circumstances regarding possible involvement in other types of crimes by some of the detainees are yet to be established.

Seventy-year-old Milka Raeva told bTV about the inhumane conditions: "They lock us up like dogs. They give us two slices of bread and in this heat they don't open the door to let air in, as they're afraid we'll escape. These were 4 very difficult years. God helped me. Many people died hungry, without doctors, with wounds, tied up." Today, the elderly woman feels saved and expects her daughters to hug her again.
