The working visit of Bulgarian Interior Minister Daniel Mitov to the USA concluded with meetings at the Department of Homeland Security and the Bureau of Diplomatic Security. The Bulgarian delegation accompanying the minister included the directors of the main directorates "National Police", "Fighting Organized Crime" and "Border Police" - Chief Commissioners Zahari Vaskov, Boyan Raev and Anton Zlatanov.

"Bulgaria is very close to joining the US visa-free travel program. We are making joining the program a top priority and the government is proud to report significant progress," Mitov said during his conversation with Under Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Christopher Pratt.

Next week, another trilateral meeting between the US, the European Commission and Bulgaria will begin, at which technical issues from the work plan will be discussed. The assessment of the work done by the administration of President Donald Trump is expected in December.

"I hope that this assessment will be positive, so that we can successfully complete the path we started together many years ago," the Interior Minister added.
