Galin Tomov created an impressive portrait of President Donald Trump especially for his birthday (June 14) on a carpet, using a traditional Bulgarian loom and technique.

''Tremendous thanks to master craftsman Galin Tomov for helping us mark President Trump's birthday!  Mr. Tomov spent 10 months crafting a woven portrait of the President, using a traditional Bulgarian loom and technique to weave 270,000 individual threads to create the remarkably lifelike portrait. Our Cultural Attaché Eric had the honor of accepting the portrait from Mr. Tomov, who brought it from his picturesque village of Skandaloto. With great gratitude and appreciation, we have sent the gift to the White House for President Trump to enjoy'', The US Embassy Sofia wrote on Facebook.

Galin Tomov is a craftsman who is reviving a forgotten craft by creating woven icons in the small village of Skandaloto near the town of Apriltsi. In the past, weaving was an important craft in Northern Bulgaria. Today, however, Galin Tomov is the only master weaver in the Apriltsi area, reported BTA.
