One person was arrested by the police for hooliganism during the protest in defence of the Bulgarian lev organized by the "Vazrazhdane" party, held in Sofia this afternoon, the police reported. Another protester was taken away by the police, but was released, BNR reporter Nikolay Hristov informed.
The protest in front of the parliament building against the introduction of the euro briefly became tense after people tried to reach the entrance of the building. During the demonstration, a policeman fainted due to the heat and was given medical assistance. The protest ended with a march to the BNT building with the chant "We want air".
The organizers said that there would be a new protest at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5. The protesters are demanding a referendum on the adoption of the the euro, as well as the resignation of the government.
