Bulgarian students won four medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). They earned one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the most prestigious chemistry competition of the year, said the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association. The 57th International Chemistry Olympiad took place from July 5 to 14 in Dubai. It brought together 360 of the best high school students from 90 countries.
Damyan Ivanov, a 10th-grade student from the Sofia High School of Mathematics, won a gold medal. Viktor Angelov, a 12th-grader from the same school, won a silver medal. The bronze medals went to Nikola Ninkov, an 11th-grader at the Sofia High School of Mathematics, and Teodor Kusev, an 11th-grade student at the National High School of Science and Mathematics.
The Bulgarian national team was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Donka Tasheva and Prof. Dr. Penka Vasileva from Sofia University.
