The Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, which was opened by former US President Donald Trump in July, is set to host a golf championship organised by two Bulgarians — cryptocurrency platform Nexo’s co-founders, Antoni Trenchev and Kosta Kunchev — from 7 to 10 August, according to a report by state news agency BTA on Wednesday.

The opening ceremony of the golf course on 29 July drew political, sporting and business figures, including Scottish First Minister John Swinney, and featured a meeting between Trump and the Nexo founders.

'To launch the championship in the home of golf with the support of President Donald Trump is a symbol of a new era,' said Trenchev at the time. 'Sharing lunch with him after a round of golf to discuss politics and our shared vision for the future of cryptocurrencies in the US was an exceptional honour.'

Nexo said the tournament follows the April 2025 visit to Bulgaria by Donald Trump Jr., which the company organised.
