A Bulgarian military contingent has departed for a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, BNR’s Shumen correspondent reports. A total of 97 service members (90 men and 7 women) were officially sent off today.

The contingent is part of NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR), under Regional Command West, and is formed primarily by the 29th Mechanized Battalion from the 5th Brigade Command in Pleven.

Additional personnel come from the 61st Mechanized Brigade in Karlovo, the 4th Artillery Regiment in Asenovgrad, as well as from the Joint Forces Command, the Military Medical Academy, and the Military Police in Varna.
