Bulgarian violinist Svetlin Roussev, a professor at the Paris Conservatoire, performed a solo concert on 24 September at the Imperial Church in Vienna’s Hofburg Palace, Austria. He appeared at the invitation of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute “Haus Wittgenstein,” the institute told state news agency BTA.

Organisers said the concert marked Roussev’s first appearance before a distinguished Austrian audience at the Hofburg Palace, where he received four standing ovations for his virtuosity.

The programme featured works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Eugène Ysaÿe, Petar Hristoskov and Flausino Vale. Roussev played these pieces on the 1716 Stradivarius “Baron Wittgenstein”, which has been entrusted to him by the Bulgarian state to convey messages of peace, harmony and love worldwide.
