A market study will soon be launched, followed by a competitive tender for Bulgarian developers to supply various types of drones for the Ministry of Defence. This announcement was made by Tomislav Donchev, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation, at the fifth edition of the SEE ITS Summit 2025, the largest innovation and technology forum in Southeast Europe, held at the Grand Hotel Millennium in Sofia.
“I believe this is entirely within the capacity of Bulgarian developers,” said Donchev. However, he questioned whether the local industry could deliver sufficient quantities at competitive prices, which is a key requirement for these products. He also suggested that Bulgaria could specialise in anti-drone protection systems.
