22% of all Bulgarian citizens fall below poverty line

In 2015 the poverty line in Bulgaria amounted to EUR 164 per person per month, the National Statistical Institute informs. A total of 1.586 million Bulgarian citizens, or 22% of the whole Bulgarian population, fell below that poverty line. The poverty line increased with 0.6% as compared to the previous year. The number of people who fell below the poverty line increased with 0.2% year on year. Last year 53.3% of the unemployed people fell below the poverty line.
