Today the future of Bulgaria and Europe is not decided on the battlefield but rather in school classrooms – they also hold the key to problems’ solution. This is what Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev said as he opened the European Commission initiative „Civil Dialogue“ in the town of Gabrovo. The motto of the debate is “Europe: what is next” and it was joined by Deputy PM for European Funds and Economic Policies Tomislav Donchev and the President of the European Committee of the Regions Markku Markkula. In his speech President Plevneliev pointed out that “if we want the industries of the future to take place in Bulgaria and to attract more investments, we shall need really good education”. We must be together more often, to learn how to live together, said the President of the European Committee of the Regions Markku Markkula who added that Europe should create a network of innovation centers aimed to encourage young people. Tomislav Donchev in turn said that one key priority was to rebuild the trust of citizens to institutions given its unprecedented low level today.
