“The state of the facilities, of the surveillance systems, as well as of the individual surveillance devices is satisfactory. They provide reliable protection against migration flows,” said Interior Minister Valentin Radev in parliament. In his words there are 21 kilometers of the border fence yet to be built. The main problem are the adjacent roads leading to the fence which are barely passable and this makes border protection more difficult and leads to a considerable physical depreciation of the hardware.
