Extremely intense traffic in the last month through Turkish border checkpoints and the huge queues that formed at the borders with Bulgaria and Greece have caused a great deal of discontent in Turkey.

Turkish Customs and Trade Minister Bülent Tüfenkci said at a press conference that exceptional measures had been taken to relieve customs procedures in order to reduce queues and waiting at borders.

"We are going to ease some customs procedures that we think are superfluous and are slowing traffic down," the Turkish minister added.
