Patriarch Neophyte has confirmed, for the BNR, that the conflict between the Russian and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is being discussed by the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
A special commission, appointed by the Synod, will get acquainted with the documents in December, and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church will make public its stand when ready. The commission’s chairman, the Metropolitan Bishop of Stara Zagora Cyprian added that forming an opinion will take time, as there are many documents that have to be inspected. The Metropolitan Bishop of Varna Yoan commented that this is a very complex question, that the split between the Moscow and the Ecumenical Patriarchate affects 300 million Orthodox Christians, and being a small church the Bulgarian Orthodox Church will take into account the general view of Ecumenical Orthodoxy.
