Pernik’s Kalkas neighbourhood was evacuated after the dyke of the ash pond of a local thermal power station broke, flooding the neighbourhood.
Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov, Minister of the Environment Emil Dimitrov, and Minister of the Interior Mladen Marinov arrived on the spot to inspect the scene of the incident. Minister Marinov stated there was no danger to the people living in the vicinity, and that the evacuation had been carried out as a precaution.
