“The increase in the number of newly registered Covid-19 cases is a fact that gives rise to concern, and it is due to the disregard for the anti-epidemic measures recommended,” said Dr. Mihail Okoliiski, public health expert at the Bulgarian office of the World Health Organization for the BNR.

In his words people’s growing carelessness, including in places where they ought to be wearing masks is a form of pseudo-heroism. Wearing face masks is an indication of people’s willingness to keep themselves and other people safe. As to the orders by the health minister – they are a reflection of contradictory messages conveyed by different experts of high standing, and that confused people even more. Many of the measures made sense, according to the World Health Organization, Dr. Okoliiski said.
