Gross external debt, both private and public has been declining. At the end of May, the gross external debt was EUR 33.974 billion, which is an annual decline of 1% or EUR 330.2 million. This represents 59.9% of the country's projected GDP for this year, according to preliminary data from the Bulgarian National Bank.
