Bulgarians spend the most on food

During the second quarter of 2020, the total income of Bulgarian households has gone up by almost 10% year-on-year, indicates a study by the National Statistical Institute.

At the same time compared to the second quarter of 2019, the money spent on food and soft drinks has gone up by 1.3 %. In the June-August 2020 period, food and soft drinks account for the biggest share of spendings (32,7%), followed by housing costs (17,3%), taxes and social security (15,1%), and transport and communications (10.9%).
