Bulgaria’s Minister of Environment and Water Emil Dimitrov has ordered a large-scale inspection of air purity in the Danube city of Ruse. The order comes several days after the protests of local residents against air pollution. Protesters even blocked traffic to Danube Bridge border crossing at the Bulgaria-Romania border.
Minister Dimitrov is to send deputy ministers to Ruse. They are expected to identify the causes of air pollution.
The discontent of the residents of Ruse was caused by a series of air pollutions by an unidentified source. Pollution is supposed to have come from an industrial enterprise, Horizont channel of BNR reports.
