The 102nd anniversary of the brilliant military victory of the outnumbered Bulgarian army in the region of Doiran during World War I will be celebrated in Pleven today.

A memorial service will take place in front of the monument to the 9th Pleven infantry division in memory of the 2,606 officers and soldiers who lost their lives.

Representatives of the Tradition national association will be wearing authentic uniforms and carrying weapons from the time of the battles. Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov will present awards for patriotic activities, and activities in service of the country.

The Doiran epopee is one of the most epic battles during the wars of last century and is probably the biggest military victory in the entire history of Bulgaria.
