Sofia Municipality rejects holding of controversial Lukov March

Photo: BTA

For another year, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova has refused to coordinate the holding of Lukov March. This was what the chairwoman of the GERB-UDF group in the Sofia Municipal Council, Malina Edreva, said. According to her, in a democratic society the mayor does not have the authority to allow or forbid someone's ideology, but has the responsibility to take a position if a large gathering of people in a public place leads to violations of public order, while what she called "the counting of Bulgarian fascists better known as Lukov March", was exactly one of these gatherings.

BSP councilors have also issued a declaration against holding of the event.
