The prosecutors’ college of the Supreme Judicial Council urged caretaker Minister of the Interior Boyko Rashkov to observe the separation of powers.
“Rashkov’s appearances on the Bulgarian National Radio and his allegations that “a number of prosecutors have broken the law and should be removed” are “inadmissible and include negative comments and manipulative insinuations”. “They are an attempt at undue influence on the activities of the magistrates and their discrediting in contravention of European standards and values,” the prosecutors’ college points out.
“A sense of destabilization and absence of statehood is being created, and unwarranted tension is being stoked among the caretaker government, the Interior Ministry, the judicial branch and the public,” the declaration reads further.
The declaration will be sent to the president, the prime minister, the embassies of the EU countries and USA, and to the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Venice Commission.
