New restrictions will be introduced in Sofia due to the increased growth of people infected with Covid-19, the head of the Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate Dancho Penchev told bTV.

From August 11, gyms, restaurants and theatres will operate with 30% capacity. The working hours of the establishments are limited from 6 am to 11 pm. Private gatherings can be attended by 50 people and up to 100 people outdoors. The order is expected to be issued by the health minister on August 10.

"Currently, Sofia is in the yellow zone on a 14-day morbidity base, and on the basis of the 7-day analysis it is in the red zone," Penchev explained, adding that if the peak of the 4th wave of the pandemic coincides with the beginning of the school year, it may start via distance leaning in some schools.
