Number of foreign students in Bulgaria has doubled since 2013

Diploma in "Informatics and Computer Science" from the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" brings the highest incomes in Bulgaria, the 11th edition of the Higher Education Institutions Rating shows. "Informatics and Computer Science" at the New Bulgarian University, "Administration and Management" at the American University in Blagoevgrad, "Mathematics" at Sofia University and "Communication and Computer Engineering" at the Technical University – Sofia also bring some of the highest salaries in this country.

The number of students in 2021 increased by more than 4,000 compared to a year earlier and reached 202,605. The three most popular fields are Economics with 29,321 students, Pedagogy with 16,719 and Medicine with 13,186.

The number of international students in Bulgaria rose from 4% in 2013 to over 8% in 2021. Most of the foreign students study in the fields of Medicine - 58% of all students, Dentistry - 43% and Veterinary Medicine - 31 %. The foreigners in the majors of "Pharmacy", "Transport, Shipping and Aviation" and "Music and Dance" are about 12 percent.
