Bulgaria remains without progress in the Human Freedom Index 2021 of the Canadian Fraser Institute. The data were presented in Sofia by the Institute for Market Economics. Human freedom in this country is rated with 8 out of 10 possible points and this places Bulgaria 45th out of 165 countries.
The most problematic category in the integrated assessment remains the rule of law, assessed with 5 points. Bureaucratic restrictions on business and the labor market also make the score lower.
For more than a decade, Bulgaria's position in the index has not improved and the data confirm the problems in individual and economic freedom, which are the reason for the suppression of income rise in the country, analysts from the Institute for Market Economy commented.
