The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the actions of officials in the Republic of North Macedonia, which create negative public attitudes and which contradict the positive climate created by the efforts of the governments of Bulgaria and North Macedonia.

A statement posted on the website of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry notes that "after the successful joint meeting of the governments of the two countries, we are again witnessing an increase in public tension caused by specific actions of the President of North Macedonia, which attempts to reopen topics in conflict with the 2017 Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation.
"In its position, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that such actions do not contribute to the process of European integration of North Macedonia.
"We call on the responsible factors in our neighbouring country to show political maturity and make a constructive contribution to the ongoing process of restoring mutual trust," the statement reads.
