There is no risk of Ukrainian grain being labeled as Bulgarian-produced, because it must have a certificate of origin, Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev has told BNR. The minister opposes intervention of the state in the purchase of agricultural products because the prices are global.
Gechev defined as an anomaly the fact that countries such as Bulgaria, Poland and Romania, which comply with the green requirements of the EU and do not use genetically modified varieties, are under pressure from Ukrainian imports. Ukrainian grain is not bound by the requirements of the EU and enters the neighboring markets at lower prices.
For the sake of solidarity, imports will continue, but in order to preserve the difference in quality, mixing of the products will not be allowed, the minister pointed out.
