An answer from Russia’s Gazprom is expected by the end of the day whether Bulgaria will be able to receive the natural gas it is due under the current contract.

“We want to start negotiations in which we shall seek some modifications, including a rescheduling of deliveries, so that we can receive them physically, some kind of guarantees, and possibly, to discuss the price as well. So that we need to start negotiations first so we can send what we want,” caretaker Energy Minister Rossen Hristov said.

According to information of the caretaker government, the talks with Gazprom have been coordinated with the EU, public service TV BNT reports. Bulgaria stopped receiving gas from Gazprom at the end of April after refusing to make payments in rubles, as is the new requirement set down by Gazprom.
