Ukrainian President Zelensky: The Ukrainian flag and free life will return to Crimea again

The Ukrainian army is now 30 kms. from Kherson, and the Ukrainian counteroffensive is advancing towards the city in two directions. To the West the Ukrainian forces have reached the approaches to Kyselivka, and to the North they have recaptured Vysokopillia, First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council, Yuri Sobolevsky wrote on Telegram. “Vysokopillia is Ukraine,” he declared, as quoted by Ukrinfom.

Meanwhile, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine posted a photograph on Facebook of soldiers raising the national flag of Ukraine over a building, with the words: Vysokopillya. Kherson region. Ukraine. Today.

In his nightly address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said: “I believe that the Ukrainian flag and free life will return to Crimea again. We will liberate all our lands, all our people (…) Everyone can see that the occupiers have already started fleeing Crimea. This is the right choice for all of them.”

In a large part of the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia region electrical power is out, Vladimir Rogov from the Russian occupation administration in the region declared for the Russian TASS news agency. The causes are being investigated. According to Russian sources, three explosions were heard in Enerhodar – a town close to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Ukraine expects to receive 5 billion euros in macro-financial aid from the European Union this coming week to support the economy and army, and to prepare for the looming winter, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said during his visit to Germany, Reuters reports. After his meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said it was important to plan the restoration of Ukraine in advance. This question is to be discussed at an expert conference organized on 25 October in Berlin, at the initiative of Germany, which holds the Presidency of the G7, and of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
