Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria calls on lawmakers to raise wages

Representatives of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) called on the MPs to submit a draft budget for 2023, increase the minimum monthly salary from EUR 363 to EUR 435 euros and introduce a minimum tax-exempt ammount

Trade unionists gave the MPs a Christmas tree hung with notes spelling out their demands: "Working poor no more! Bills are rising, wages are not! Income for all, not for a handful of people!", etc. 

"Inflation has hit a 25-year high", said Lyubomir Kostov, Director of the Institute for Social and Trade Union Research. "Before the elections, the MPs promised to raise wages, but they are not keeping their word, Lyubomir Kostov said.
