Georgi Ivanov wins gold at the 2023 European U23 Wrestling Championships in Bucharest

Georgi Ivanov won the European title at the 2023 European U23 Wrestling Championships in Bucharest. In the 125 kg freestyle final, the Bulgarian wrestler defeated Volodymyr Kochanov (Ukraine) 10:0 by technical knockout.

The gold in Bucharest is the biggest success in Georgi Ivanov's sports career. Last year, he earned a bronze medal at the European U20 Wrestling Championships. Georgi Ivanov is a national champion (men and juniors). In the Romanian capital the wrestler from Dimitrovgrad won two convincing victories – a 6:0 win against Azamat Khosonov (Greece) and a 6:2 victory over Al Efe (Turkiye) at the semi-finals.
