Skopje creates sham Bulgarian associations in North Macedonia, citizens warn

Fake Bulgarian associations are being created in North Macedonia as the plan for them is to become part of the working group on drafting changes to the country's Constitution. In this way, the official power will provide itself with supporters when discussing the rights of the Bulgarians in the former Yugoslav republic. This is what Bulgarians from Skopje have warned about. They have signed a letter to the government in Skopje demanding to be included in the working group for a change to the basic law, with the argument that this mainly concerns the recognition of the Bulgarian minority as part of the multi-ethnic state.

"Something is wrong with our democracy. This is best seen in the situation of the Macedonian Bulgarians. When it came to the inclusion of Macedonian Bulgarians in the Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia, the old opponents of everything Bulgarian in Macedonia immediately emerged again," Argir Stumbov from Skopje has told BNR.
